KAILUA-KONA — Two people were injured after a pickup truck apparently ran off Kuakini Highway and flipped at least once.
The black Chevrolet ran off the mauka side of the road south of Kamehameha III Road about 2:50 p.m. and flipped at least once, leaving the plastic bumper buried in the wall. A toolbox in the pickup’s bed was thrown out and a light was pulled out of the soil above the vehicle.
Both occupants were transported to Kona Community Hospital and were conscious, first responders said. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said.
